Launched in 2018, the Obama Foundation Leaders Program aims to inspire, empower, and connect regional cohorts of changemakers to accelerate positive and lasting change in their communities, countries, regions, and around the world. The Obama Leaders program currently operates in Africa, Asia-Pacific, Europe, and the United States. To date, the program has built a network of over 1,200 Leaders, who hail from more than 100 nations and territories, working across various sectors and issue areas. The emerging changemakers in this program are brought together by a commitment to values-based leadership rooted in the legacy of President and Mrs. Obama.
Changemakers between the ages of 24–45 who are living and working in eligible nations and territories in Africa, Europe, Asia-Pacific, and the U.S. are invited to apply.
Right now, the world needs leaders at all levels who are taking action on urgent global challenges, who are committed to ethical, values-based, equitable, and collaborative leadership. We need leaders who want to learn, share, and collaborate with peers, leaders who believe in President Obama’s words, “Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.”
In its fourth year, the Obama Leaders Europe program aims to build a growing network of values-based changemakers working to strengthen democratic culture, collective action and the forces of pluralism in our communities both locally and globally.
Deadlines:
The deadline to submit applications is Wednesday, December 18, at 12:00 PM U.S. Central Time.
Application Process:
Candidates may submit their application on the application portal. All candidates will still need to verify that they meet the program’s eligibility criteria.
Selection Process:
The selection process will take place from late-January to June 2025 and finalists will be invited for virtual interviews in April and May. The candidates will be informed of final selection via email by the end of July 2025. Those who are not selected will remain eligible for future Obama Foundation opportunities.
