To get certified, wanna be B Corps must comply with stricter requirements, including Government Affairs & Collective Action.
10/04/2025
B Lab has officially launched the new standards for B Corp Certification. The updated framework includes more rigorous and holistic requirements across seven core Impact Topics, reflecting the urgent need for businesses to help address some of the most pressing global challenges.
One of these topics, Government Affairs & Collective Action, sets a new benchmark for responsible lobbying, that is, how companies engage with public policy, including taxation, as well as broader democratic processes. It encourages businesses to act transparently in their lobbying, contribute fairly through taxes, and work collaboratively to promote systemic change.
The Good Lobby is proud to have contributed to the development of this particular Impact Topic on the basis of the insights of its Tracker. The launch of this, which maps out and ranks all existing initiatives in the field – from ESG ratings to sustainability standards- has prompted the review of several voluntary initiatives aimed at making corporate political conduct more responsible, including that by B Lab.
Businesses interested in aligning with the new standards can consult the B Impact Assessment team to understand and improve their practices.
