Ahead of the second Global Refugee Forum (GRF) taking place in Geneva this week, The Good Lobby is thrilled to announce our participation in the 2023 Global Refugee Forum Legal Community Pledge. Together, pledge signatories aim to put the power of the law to work to advance access to rights, justice, and lasting solutions for displaced people globally.
We join a network of legal professionals, refugee-led organizations, advocates, and other allies to contribute our expertise, resources, and policy insights to increase legal assistance and create systemic change for and with refugees and other displaced people.

Building a Just World: The Pledge Commitments

As a signatory of the Pledge, we will engage with refugee-led organisations (RLOs) and other civil society initiatives (CSOs) that work with forcibly displaced people to match requests for pro bono publico assistance with our members (PBMs). Our commitment in this venture aims to contribute to a more just and equitable world, where legal rights are accessible to all. For this, we pledge to the following commitments:

  • Enhance the accessibility to our existing legal services for the aforementioned RLOs and CSOs;
  • Build partnerships with such RLOs and CSOs to identify and collect further needs that can be supported on a pro bono publico basis;
  • Engage with our network of PBMs to develop specific pro bono projects that address the legal needs of refugees or the organisations that are led by or work with them – like the Consultation Centres for Ukrainians by the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD);
  • Support the mobilisation and organisational pledges by Brussels-based civil society and private sector to develop a network for further actions like advocacy campaigns and technical support.
