In the heart of the European quarter in Brussels, on February 21st, The Good Lobby proudly joined other civil society organisations as a founding member of the Future Generations Initiative campaign. The initiative boasts a diverse group of organisations, all dedicated to collectively shaping a better future. The campaign launch, inaugurated by Filipe Martins, SJ, director of JESC, and Alberto Alemanno, founder of The Good Lobby, was a collaborative effort to present a shared vision for impactful advocacy.

Presenting Concrete Steps for Change

Unveiling our coalition’s ambitious policy proposals:

  1. Interinstitutional Agreement for the Rights of Future Generations: Advocating for a groundbreaking agreement to safeguard the rights of future generations, our commitment is a step towards a sustainable and equitable world.
  2. Appointment of a Commissioner for Future Generations: Envisioning a Commissioner for Future Generations, also serving as Vice President, to champion the cause at the highest levels.
  3. Incorporation of Future Generations Impact Assessment: Pushing for the inclusion of a Future Generations Impact Assessment within the Better Regulations Guidelines, ensuring policy decisions consider long-term consequences.

Engaging Dialogue: Coalition Perspectives

A panel discussion, featuring eight dynamic coalition members, explored the social and political challenges facing our campaign. The diverse perspectives within our coalition underscored the collective strength we bring to this advocacy. Notably, youth organizations emerged as a pivotal force driving positive change.

Networking Reception: Igniting Collaborative Opportunities

As the event concluded, the energy seamlessly transitioned into a networking reception. Conversations sparked promising opportunities for collaborative efforts.
